OpenAI has introduced a new subscription tier in India named ChatGPT Go, available for ₹399 per month, which supports Unified Payments Interface (UPI). This initiative aims to make advanced AI services more affordable and accessible to the growing user base in India.
This launch represents the first instance of OpenAI implementing a region-specific pricing model, allowing Indian users to pay in their local currency through popular applications like Google Pay, PhonePe, and Paytm. The inclusion of UPI is anticipated to streamline the subscription process for millions of users who depend on this system for their daily digital transactions.
What ChatGPT Go Provides
The new plan offers significantly enhanced usage compared to the free version of ChatGPT. Subscribers will gain up to ten times more access to chats, image generation, and file uploads, in addition to increased memory capacity for storing conversations. ChatGPT Go will also provide access to the latest GPT-5 model, improving response accuracy, multilingual support, and overall performance.

With this launch, OpenAI now presents four subscription options in India:
Free: Basic access with limited features
Go: ₹399 per month
Plus: ₹1,999 per month
Pro: ₹19,900 per month
The Go plan is designed as an entry-level premium option, targeting students, independent professionals, and small businesses who may find higher-tier subscriptions unaffordable but still seek enhanced capabilities.
